Strong magnet, but the adhesive failed within the year and the mount did not stay on the kayak. I contacted customer service and they sent me the new mount with a “better” and “Improved” adhesive. I will be testing the new mount adhesive for the rest of the year and next. 4 stars now, if it works better, 5 stars later!

This mount should only be used on flat surfaces. I purchased this and stuck it to a helmet, which is curved. The mount broke into 2 pieces almost instantly.
I’m still giving a good review for the following reasons. First, the mount held the light very well and detented the rotation of the light so the front would stay facing the front. Secondly, I believe the mount would work great on curved surfaces. Third, the customer service team was very responsive, explained my issue was uncommon and likely due to mounting on a curved surface, then offered to send me a better mount for my helmet (I did pay the difference in cost for the more expensive mount). Overall, the product was good and the customer service was great. I just wished they more clearly noted this mount doesn’t work well on curved surfaces.
