‘The Beginning of Something Beautiful:’ Safety Lights Helping Florida Police

In Port St. Lucie, Florida, Richard Mazzio, a police officer with over two decades of experience, never took his safety for granted. But over a year ago, despite taking precaution, he was hit by a driver while working a traffic crash.  That incident severely injured him, leading to more than a year of intense recovery. Recently, he was able to return to the line of duty, yet one thing was different: This time, he had a Guardian Angel light mounted on his shoulder, giving him 360° visibility when working roadside.   Guardian Angel, with the support of the Spirit of Blue Foundation, granted him and the entire Port St. Lucie Police Department over 200 Elite Series™ lights – a wish Mazzio made while recovering in the hospital following the crash.
